If you know me, you know that I have an obsession with swimwear. Prior to moving to Denver, my overall number of swim separates was pushing 70. To be fair, I had lived in California my entire life, the majority of that time being in LA so I made use of (almost) all of them.
Any excuse I get to travel with my bikinis in tow, I take it. Whether it's a trip back home, a tropical getaway, or family reunion in Florida, the gang gets to come along. My most recent excuse was my family's reunion in St. Augustine, Florida. I had no idea what to expect. All I had heard about Florida beaches is that you should be prepared to see some retirement paradise patrons sprawled buns out with no shame, but I was pleasantly surprised. I am a west coast best coast kind of girl all day, but I have to say - Florida, you got a little somethin' somethin'.
I packed for this trip expecting to have a ton of occasions to wear complete outfits with accessories to match but I was dead wrong (and never learn). Every time I go on a beach vacation, I learn this valuable lesson: all you need is a swimsuit, maybe a cover up and shoes are optional. The other times, you're too lazy and sun soaked to care what you're wearing.
These are my beach essentials. Granted, this is only one of the many bikinis I wore during the trip, but I honestly always come back to the basics. Basic silhouettes, basic colors, etc. This simple black bandeau goes with every bottom I own. I chose these high waisted cutout bottoms - I never thought I could pull these off, but surprisingly SO comfortable and flattering. To top it off, a kimono and my favorite sunnies to to keep out the rays once you've had enough of the humid equator volcano rays for the day.
